Press release about Hester's 100th birthday:
Happy 100th Birthday November 14th to Hester B. Brown! Mrs. Brown resides at Grand Villa Assisted Care, 1501 Patterson Road with her husband, Roy C. Brown. She was born Hester Wooden in 1909 in Kent, Indiana. On November 19, 1927, she married Robert D. MacGruder of Indianapolis. The two had three children: Dede Hunter (Bella Vista, Arkansas), Robert W. MacGruder (Grand Junction) and Marilyn Barnewall (Palisade). She has six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
The family moved to Denver from Indianapolis in 1939. Hester was often the top saleswoman in the Rocky Mountain region for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. She married Roy C. Brown, December 9, 1960 and the two will celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary next month! Hester and Roy moved to Grand Junction in January 2006.
Hester will celebrate her birthday by enjoying cake, spareribs from Rooster's, and the good company of her son, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many friends at Grand Villa.
