    • Joseph Baldwin served in the War of 1812, enlisting in the regular army at Winchester, Virginia, on 12 May 1812. He served until 21 May 1817, when he was discharged at Pass Christian, Mississippi. He moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania with his parents about 1818. In Pennsylvania, he resided on a farm in Shenango Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and taught school. He was involved with the organization of the Disciples of Christ Church at Normal Glen, Shenango Township.
